Career Path

January 29, 2024, precisely at 12.35AM.

Finally, I can open this blog again. Ecstatic and writing is like ecstasy. It feels so good to be back. I must say that writing in diaries or blog is such a therapy for me since I can say whatever I think and feel in it. Yet, in blog I won't pour all of my deepest feelings since I like to stay keep it private or just say it to God, even we as human can't see Him.

Anyway, by the time, more than a decade since the first time I published my first post until this day. Thank you for everyone who stopped by or randomly find this blog. I really wish that you guys have a fruitful day.

I can't sleep, I think cause I feel unease since I haven't finish my job on reconciliating a financial report. Finding "why" the amount in report doesn't match with its source, like audit or accounting stuff. I am glad that I've worked in a field that I dreamt of since I was in Senior High School. Well, I mean, precisely I wanted to be an auditor but turns out I decided to work in a general field of accounting and universe support it with my current job.

If you find this post, either you are still in Senior High School or currently in college or uni life, and still wondering what do you want to take as your major or field to be able to survive in working life, or whether what you already do so far is the right one or even you don't like it but your parents force you to take it, honestly I don't have any advice. Maybe I just want to share my experience, maybe you can find something relatable in it.

  1. Time and cost: I was really aware of time, that IF I took medical school, I know that my time would be spent on learning, not forgetting being a residence and so on and so forth. I've seen this my neighbors who mostly in it, so is my sister. Even my parents would be ecstatic with that journey, but I knew I would not. I wanted that after having my degree, I would apply for a job or be entrepreneur. Directly having my own salary to live my life independently, not burdening my parents anymore, so they could turn their focus on my little brother. That's it!
  2. What subject I enjoyed the most: I enjoyed learning Biology and Chemistry, yet I didn't like the time I spent IF I had to take med school or phamacist school. Next, I ever learnt accounting in my first grade, it was just learning based on basic math and a bit addition of logic. When my teacher told us about audit world, when we could work and travel at the same time, as a naive girl, I liked how it sounded. LOL. That was the first seed of my ambition to learn accounting. My sister, she is very creative, love to draw, very neat. She had a dream of being a designer yet in our environment, being a designer sounded foreign. So, she entered dentistry school instead in which she can channel her creativity to make peoples teeth to be aesthetic and good.
  3. What the world mostly need: I know that this world won't run without economics and business in it. In daily life, there is always trade, commerce, business. Growing up looking at my momma did her seasonal business strengthened my desire to take economics and business as my major. Yet, I know for sure that many people entering that field too, hence, to win in that field is you have to be outstanding than others. You can figure it out along the process.
  4. Exception: I must say and still guessing that up until now, my little brother has not taken a field that he truly wants, since what he has done is basically following my parents suggestion. I must put my respect higher for people like them to big heartedly put aside their ego to obey their parents. Some of my friends are also similar. Based on what I see, they negotiate with their parents to take the other paths, but it still have to be rational. I once being forced to take med school but I insisted my parents that IF I go with it, I wouldn't finish it and it will have nothing but loss in their side and mine, either time and money. hehe.. It sounds threatening but rational at the same time, isn't it? You can use that reason too to your parents if you brave enough. Yet, if NOT, what I see is just go with it day by day. There's always a silver lining that you might not know the answer now but later. I once had an intern that the major she studied in is not her dream but she was told by her mother to take it. She wasn't brave enough to say what she wanted. She endures it up until now and this day, she wants to take a course a data analyst. You'll never know if you never try. Maybe there is also a silver lining in it and I remember a verse in Quran that said: "Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know".
That's my random contemplation about carreer. Look, from the uneasy feelings about work and it turns to be this writings. Hope you all have a brighter future and nice day.

1.30 AM, I gotta go sleeping,

Good night and thank you.
