Premiere Audit Task

Hello Guys! Back again with me. How are you? How is/was your weekend? Mine was good even if I got some accidents when a driver of motorcycle was not bring me on my destiny. However, it was paid with a little catch up with my friend. Also a good movie that I watched which is The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling.

Anyway, I just posted this today, on Thursday event if I already wrote this story since Sunday. So, this story was told since then. Enjoyed it. Haha..

Time flies and today is already the first day of weekday, work time, in Jakarta again. After past 2 weeks I spent my time to work in Manado as I told you in my last writings. In this time, I’m gonna tell you about my first ever audit work as I experienced. I have some excited stories and also a little bit strange one!

Started with my flight to Manado.
I usually go to airport 2 hours before the flight. The reason is because I don’t want to be in a rush. Meanwhile in Airport, I can relax a little bit, eat and the other activities. I also don’t know why I love airport atmosphere, see people come and go, separate or meet their family. I went to the airport using DAMRI or a bus because I did not bring many stuffs and the price is cheaper.

I got a little bit accident in the bus. The beginning is when the bus driver told that the bus was already in Teminal 1 B, I prepared myself because I wanted to get off in Terminal 1 C at Soekarno Hatta Airport. When the driver told me that the bus was already in Terminal 1 C, suddenly my seniors called me. I was surprised, so I was in dilemma between to get off and talked with her. So I greet her and she asked me where would I go? I said “Terminal 1 C”. She said “Lah, it was just passed”. I knew it but yeah. I was a little bit confused at that time actually. You know, when you are in a position whether you have to go yet someone is talking to you especially your senior and you are only a newbie in the office.

Shortly, as I know, the bus driver asked me that “Do I bring any luggage?” I said yes as the same time I picked it up. Nevertheless, he just went outside the bus and as I saw, he opened the garage and brought another luggage. I thought he would put it in the bus so I just ran into the airport. Suddenly, my phone rang and my WhatsApp group was full with notifications. As I checked, My Senior said that I left her luggage in the middle of the road. I confused. What?? As I know, I only brought my own. I did not know, when I back to check it out, there was no any luggage in the place I stopped.

Skip. Next about first ever audit task!!! My Senior and I were welcomed warmly by our client. Many foods was served on the table since a first day ‘til our last audit day. They also already provided us a hotel to be lived. Our client is one of The State Owned Enterprises which running in micro funding. I’ve learned to communicate with clients and also debitors who got a funding facilitiy, checking the documents whether they already apply their SOP into their daily management activities or not, keeping in terms of the their clients’ collateral, their petty cash, fixed assets and so on.

Two early days, I felt that I worked so slowly because I still couldn’t find my work rhythm and also I still stiff and a little bit confused with what would I do. Lucky me to have my senior who really helped me and lead me well. In Manado, I also had to lie about my identity. Even though I am originally from Manado, and you can know it from my surname, yet I told them that I already lived in Jakarta since I was a kid. That’s all in a purpose to keep my independency.

The most interesting part in Audit term, when I found a big case or even a fraud and tryna analyze it. There will always a fraud. In my case, our clients has a new chief who already fired 60 employees because he found them did fraud. So, in our last day while we spoke about our audit findings, he already know that. The new chief is very explicit and clever as hell. I was a little bit emphasized with that fact. LOL.

Another surprising part was in On The Spot moments, when we had to visit the debitors. On our first day, we went to Amurang and our first client was refused to sign our survey paper due to a trauma she had with our client’s office. When we want to check her documents and collateral for her funding, her data was lost. All!!! That was one of our biggest audit finding.

Although we mostly worked overtime, sleepless, but we made a day in the weekend to hang out! We went to Bukit Kasih and Linow Lake. We hiked to pray building on top of the sulfur hills in Bukit Kasih. It is a symbol for Manadonese people that they live peacefully in the middle of diversities of religion. On our way to uphill, the smells of sulfur was really strong and we could saw a white smoke came from the white cliff. However, when you reach the top, the breathtaking scenery was really freshen the eyes! We could also enjoy a spring and boiled the eggs or corn in its water. We also took some photos with an owl there.

Our next journey was Linow Lake where located in Tondano. It was a little bit cold there, howsoever we ordered a food like a fried banana and drank a cup of hot tea. My afternoon was perfect. To be honest, I was not ever go to Linow Lake before and the last time I visit Bukit Kasih was in my 5th grade in Elementary School. It changed so much which already provided with many food stalls.

All in all, many things changed, I changed. I got experiences, knowledges and new skills which will increase myself to be a better and hopefully a professional auditor. The premier thing will always special and thank you to my office that had gave me this great opportunity. To believe in myself! What I wait now is to learn on how to audit financial report and make its audit report. I will wait the next challenging chances ahead. Still wishing. #fingercrossed!
