Paralayang, Batu City, East Java

Paralayang is a tourism place in Batu City, East Java but many people think that it is in Malang City. No!
A little bit history, Batu City used to be a part of Malang City, but now they’ve been separated since October 17, 2001. Skip, it's not a history class. Hehehe..

I spent my holiday in Paralayang with the my 3 friends that I know in different occasion. A classmate, from a campus organization, and from an campus activity. *apasih??* haha.. Prepare, this is a LOOOOONNGGG STORY that I want to share..

From my boarding house in Tirto Utomo Street (University of Muhammadiyah Malang area) to Paralayang, it took approximately one hour and to be honest, I don’t know the route to go there! If you never go to Paralayang before, I think you will a little bit confuse. Maybe you can use GPS and if you’re stuck, you can ask the local people the way. I’m pretty sure, they know because it is a famous place! But you don’t need to worry because the last time I went to Paralayang, government already provide a direction board to Paralayang. A little bit information, from a highway, you’ll entering residential areas so you’ll get a little bit confuse and the road is small, slippery, steep and winding. You will also passed through the plantations owned by local residents.

Paralayang is a place where you can see sunrise or sunset and do paragliding tandem ataupun menginap! They provide cute wood houses there! About price, it is so cheap! For parking lot for a car and for toilet service per person is Rp2.000 (about USD 2 cents!). To enter Paralayang area and wood houses area, you just have to pay Rp.5000 (half dollar only!) per person. Paragliding Tandem, you just need to pay Rp350.000 (US$ 27) compare it to another place which is around a million rupiah! (US$ 77) and they already provide a motorcycle who will escort you to Paralayang again and a certificate. Of course you will be accompanied by a pilot when you do Paragliding, because you are not a pro. For rent a wood house maximum for 4 people, you’ll spend your money for Rp350.000 for a night. They provide a breakfast and you will enjoy the environment and the scenery there!

Even if a little bit cloudy, we enjoyed it!

The lights were sparkling.

Wait.. Wait!! Who am I? A tourism Ambassador? LOL. At least I just want to provide some information for you. Hope you find it useful. If you want to know more, you can ask me by put a comment below or ask through my facebook or Instagram. (not a promotion! :p) hehehe

Special thanks for my friends who already make my wish to Paralayang came true and made my last day in Malang to be so memorable. Agung, Rheny and Hanan. Three people who didn’t know each other but willing to accompany me. Hanan said “Because of Echy, we get to know each other”. Awww..  Mwaaaahh :*

Agung! My super annoying friend but he is the best! A cameo story, I firstly knew him in Learning Express that was held on 8-22 March 2015 but we were in different team. I know him better after we got a chance as UMM delegate for Sakura Science Program, an exchange student to Japan. Back on track, I always said to him that I really want to go to Paralayang to chase the sunrise and do parachuting before I go back to Manado. Through whatsapp he said “Let’s go but ask your other friends to come with us.”  After we postponed it like a thousandth time, either the reason because of no friends, woke up lately, and et cetera, finally we went! He was only slept for an hour ‘til we end it at 12 p.m. Anyway, sorry Gung for ruining your sleeping schedule to pick me at 4 A.M and became the girls driver and bodyguard at the same time. Instead, it was worth the sacrifice, wasn’t it? haha..
This is Agung. Annoying yet care as hell! My friend who
became our driver and bodyguard at the same time (peace, hehe).

After he picked me, we continued to pick Hanan. She is my friend in an organization during our campus life. The day before we went, I met Hanan in American Corner UMM. She is a part timer there. We talked a lot and in the end I asked her whether she wanted to join me and my other friends to Paralayag? She said Yes! PERFECT! She is very easy going so after Agung and Hanan introduced themselves, they already get close. Moreover, Agung knows most of Hanan’s friend from English Literature Department because he can easily mingle with everyone! Hanan is very good at taking pictures. Thank you so much for capturing many of beautiful moments during our trip.
Hanan. My Beeee :*
Photo was taken by Hanan. Beautiful!

The last one, Rheny! She is my classmate. We are close enough in campus. I ever went to her house, met her super kind family. A little bit different with Hanan and Agung, she is a shy person. After you approach her, talk to her quiet a lot, she is become more humble to. After you know her very close, she is CRAZY! Her character is quite same like me. I texted her a week before we went. I had to search a right schedule and right moment of her because in the moment, the weather was unpredictable, sometimes so bright sometimes it was rain. On our way to pick her, I quiet forgot her boarding house. So we were like called her, asked her. We passed on several wrong ways and turned around again, lol. Sorry again Agung! #peace For about 15 minutes, Finally! We found her boarding house and we started our journey to Paralayang was began!
Rheny! My crazy friend. :*
P.S : Ignore the man behind us.

On our way, we were looking for a gas station, but there was no worker there. In Indonesia, there are some worker who will pumped the gasoline into your car so you don’t need to pump it by yourself ;) But we finally found one and only gas station which a worker was finally there in an early morning after 2 previous gas stations that we stopped by. Our trip was saved!

Skip another part. The point is we saw the sunrise even it was a little bit cloudy. After that we waited for 3 hours to try the Paragliding. Actually it was only me who tried it. We were waiting for the pilot to come. We spent with having our breakfast. And I made it!! I tried the paragliding tandem with Sir Sugiarto as the pilot! It was SUPER DUPER FUN!!! I was around 5 minutes above. I felt like I was in roller coaster because Pak Sugi did a maneuver like twist same like in a roller coaster! I had to mengatur hijab saya because of the wind! LOL. My departure went smoothly. A motorcycle rider (driver) ushered me back to Paralayang. After it, we went to wood houses for only to see the scenery and taking some pictures again! Haha.. Watch out your step during your way to wood house because it was downhill and slippery. Tarnish too! You should be careful too on its terrace, because you will fall from the high if you are not careful enough!
Preparation time! Wearing all of the safety instruments!

It was me! My picture during it was uploaded on my instagram ^_^v

After we contented our time at wood houses, we were ready to back yet on our way, we saw a new spot! Hammocks! They tied it between two tall trees vertically. We were curious and in the end we tried it! You only have to pay Rp10.000 or a dollar per person for a hammock. We climbed a tree to be in a hammock. Crazy little thing we did but it was very comfortable to be in a hammock. Enjoying the view, feel the wind. It felt like you just want to sleep there and forgot the fact that below you is a brink. A wrong movement you do, say goodbye to this beautiful world! The first person who climb up and climb down is a person who in the most below hammock! It was an experience which made your heart pounding yet surely it was fun though!

The scenery from the terrace of the wood house.

Hammock!

That was a little story about my last time and last holiday in Malang, in Paralayang. Fun, Wild, Dangerous, Breath-taking experience! Honestly, I wanted to tell a lot but my brain just stuck at the moment. Hehehe.. Anyway, why I said “last”? It is becauseI have to go back to my hometown and maybe won’t come back there again. Back for good! I hope I still have a chance to visit a place which I lived for 4 years. Thank you friends for the time you spent with me. You were AWESOME! For Agung and Hanan, good luck with your thesis! Hope you’ll graduate this year or maybe in the beginning of next year. For Rheny, good luck with your work in BPI. Send my lovely regard for BPI staffs (I used to work there). See you on TOP guys!
